Over the last few years, many states have implemented a Medicaid doula benefit, to help combat the overwhelming disparities of birthing people and babies across the country. Thanks to the advocacy efforts of doulas and community based organizations, the list of states that offer Medicaid doula support continues to grow. Birthworkers of Color Collective knows the importance and the impact that can be made when doula services are made accessible. Extended Medicaid Postpartum
Coverage Across the U.S.
More than 40 U.S. states have significantly extended Medicaid postpartum coverage to 12 months post giving birth. This crucial policy change aims to provide continuous, comprehensive care for mothers and birthing people during their postpartum period.
