What is an Abortion Doula?

When people think of Doulas, they often think about someone supporting you during labor and childbirth. Birthworkers of Color Collective Doulas are trained as Full Spectrum Doulas to support people through all pregnancy outcomes including miscarriage, loss, and abortion.

Abortion Doulas offer non-medical support to people seeking abortion healthcare. They can support you by providing education, emotional, practical, and advocacy support before, during, and after abortion procedures.

Abortion Doula care can look like

Education and Advocacy about your care options
Personalized Abortion Care Planning
Sitting with you during surgical and self-managed abortions
Active Listening and Holding Space
Meal planning and prepping
Movent offerings (ex. yoga, dance, hiking, etc)
Plant medicine
Meditation and Mindfulness Tools
Emotional and Physical Comfort Measures
and more

Become an Abortion Doula

Virtual Abortion Doula Training

This training is three parts:

Our 8 hour intensive virtual training requires full participation.
Additional self paced online learning available for 6 months
Optional collective meetings, dates TBD.

Payment Options:

Scholarships available for those with a financial need.

* Training is facilitated in English with translation services available. If there are language needs please notate that in the application.

Completed Abortion Doula/Full Spectrum Doula Training
- Doula training available through Birthworkers of Color Collective
Sign the Independent Contractor Agreement
Comply with all data reporting requirements.
Align with Birthworkers of Color Collective Code of Conduct
