Bio
Sarah Michal Hamid (she/they) is a queer full spectrum birthworker, doula, reproductive justice organizer, and abortion fairy. She descends maternally from Ashkenazi Jewish baby nurses from the Bronx, NYC and paternally from Punjabi dai (traditional birth attendants) & Kashmiri wáren (traditional midwives). She previously lived in the Occupied Kingdom of Hawai’i, and worked as a community doula with the Healthy Mothers Healthy Babies Coalition of Hawai’i. In addition to birth and postpartum doula care, Sarah also provides abortion & loss doula support. They hold a Bachelors of Arts in Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies: Sustainability, from the University of Hawai’i at Mānoa. She was apart of the seventh cohort of doulas with the Birthworkers of Color Collective, and loves being apart of a community of birthworkers of color. Sarah integrates somatic breathwork, yoga, art based therapy and massage into her birthwork practice.
